I would very much like to thank Michelin for their support of the TRUCKRIGHT Industry Vehicle (TIV) and offer this testimonial for the excellent mileage and value from the tyres which have been fitted exclusively to the TIV since our association started.

We are running 295/80R22.5 XZE2+ on the steer at 120 psi, and get very good wear, the current ones have over 100,000kms, after being turned on the rims at 70,000kms, and still have 7mm RTD. We had got over 160,000kms on the first set of 295/80R22.5 XZA2+Energy steer tyres, but a trip to Mt Isa with the terrible shoulders and camber of the road, saw a suggestion from Michelin to change to the 295/80R22.5 XZE2+.

On the drive we have changed to 11R22.5 X Multi D, having got over 284,000 from the last set of 11R22.5 XDE2+ and this can also be partly attributed to the Central Tyre Inflation (CTI) system fitted to the drive, allowing me to alter drive tyre pressures to suit the loading as per the Checkway on board scales.Michelin have recommended a pressure of 85psi to 90psi, which I follow.

We initially ran low profile tyres on both trailers, but issues with the trailers kissing at the top as they were designed for R22.5s on the link trailer have seen this changed. The original set of 12 trailer tyres were removed at 435,000kms with only 3 punctures and one failure, this due to damage to a sidewall from something hit on the road.

The link trailer tyres were replaced early with 275/70R22.5 XTA2 and the rear trailer tyres have just now been replaced, again at 434,000kms with only one puncture. This at a pressure of 90 psi and I rotate the tyres at 100,000kms intervals, moving one axle forward and on the fourth rotation, turning the tyres on the rims.

Many I people I speak to are amazed at the kilometres from the trailer tyres and whilst we do some light freight, I am often nearing my 64 tonne gross and we still back into finger docks and go where b-doubles were never planned for many years ago.

For value and performance on interstate linehaul work, I would happily recommend Michelin tyres to anyone.

Safe Travelling,

Rod Hannifey.
